Heather, Ali, Jerome, Mike & JJ - May 28 - Memorial Day Best

 

 

 

Today I met Heather, a veteran and painter. On Memorial Day, Heather paints scenes inspired by her experience at war. After 58 broken bones and 9 concussions, Heather is no longer fit for duty but paints more than ever. I was so glad to hear Heather's stories because it reminded me that today's significance far surpasses barbecues and beer. To all the men and women who fight for freedom across the world, thank you.

 

 

 

 

 

Jerome (far left), Ali (left center), Mike (right center), and JJ (far right) were enjoying today's hot and sweaty holiday in the center of the square. Ali hammed it up for the camera and JJ and I chatted about our California roots. Great group of chillers...I hope all you square people had a lovely holiday too!

Dominique & T-Bird - May 23 - Circles

 

 

Dominique was chilling in the park with a photographer friend of mine when I went over to say hi. Not only is she gorgeous, but I love her colorful style: the purps in her hair, her blue nails, and those lime green wheels. She told me she's trying to get an orange back wheel, which I think is an excellent idea.

 

T-Bird was in the zone when I asked to snap some pics of her hula hooping. Not only is she a beautiful dancer, but she also kept two hoops rotating at the same time. Major skills. To top it off, she was super sweet and when I walked away, she let an interested little girl join in the hula hoop fun.

Lisa and Stephanie - May 13 - Happy Mother's Day!! - Part Three

Lisa (left) and Stephanie (right) were chatting on a bench and I had a hunch they were mother and daughter. I was able to snap these portraits and then continue on my way. Happy Mother's Day you two!

I want to take the opportunity to say Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. And to my mom: She is beautiful and strong and has not only been a source of support and inspiration but is my example for living life passionately and full of love. Thank you mamaloo and I love you infinity plus one!

The Dog People - May 13 - Gida & Chulo, Karl & Midnight

It was a perfect day for people and dogs alike and Gida, Chulo, Karl, and Midnight took full advantage. I thought it appropriate to include some canine friends as a part of today's Mother's Day posts because they're members of the family too and give us oh so much love.

The next family picnic I popped in on was that of Chris (left), Sadie (center), and Becky (right). Sadie had the best smile as well as one of my favorite names and she had fun smiling for the camera while her parents prepped the cheese and salami...also some personal favorite picnic foods :)
